The Tanaka Brewery was founded in 1635 in Himeji in the Harima region of Hyogo Prefecture and markets its sake under the brand Meitou Masamune (elegant sword), Shirasagi No Shiro (heron castle) and Kame No Kou (tortoise shell) brands.

President and sixth-generation brewer, Mr. Yasuhiro Tanaka is committed to traditional brewing techniques and passion of his predecessors, combining artisan skills with new ideas and vision, as evidenced by numerous medals, including in the prestigious French Kura Master Sake Competition.

The brewery matures its sake in tanks and has only limited quantities of its products in stock, which were stored many years ago.
